For more than four decades, we have dedicated ourselves to serving the brass and woodwind community by offering professional repair services. Whether it's pulling a stuck mouthpiece or performing complete mechanical and cosmetic restorations of instruments, our wealth of experience and specialized knowledge is a valuable resource for any brass or reed player seeking routine or urgent instrument repairs. The following is a brief overview of some of the repair services we provide.
Trumpet Services
Chemical Cleaning/Ultrasonic Cleaning: Your instrument undergoes a meticulous, comprehensive cleaning process. We disassemble it entirely, effectively eliminating old oil, grease, calcium carbonate, and copper carbonate deposits through a blend of chemical and ultrasonic methods. Once cleaned, your instrument is reassembled, lubricated, tuning slide legs are finely adjusted for smooth functionality, and it is play-tested. Springs are inspected and replaced if needed. Routine chemical cleanings significantly slow down the onset of de-zincification, commonly referred to as "red rot" or pink spots, vastly extending the lifespan of the instrument.
Installing Trumpet Leadpipes & Bells: We can fit and install bells and leadpipes on most trumpets. We can supply requested parts for you, or install parts supplied by you.
Vent Trumpet Valves: When adjusting a slide without depressing the valve, it results in a sudden release of air pressure that can disrupt the embouchure. To mitigate this, a small hole can be drilled in the piston to equalize pressure within the slide.
Cosmetic Overhauls: We do full cosmetic overhauls in lacquer, silver, and other finishes. Prices will vary depending on what is requested. Please contact us anytime for any overhaul questions.
Other Services: Install water keys (standard lever or Amado), dent removal.

French Horn Services
Chemical Cleaning/Ultrasonic Cleaning: Your instrument is completely disassembled and thoroughly cleaned. We remove old oil and grease as well as calcium carbonate and copper carbonate deposits using a combination of chemical and/or ultrasonic processes. Your instrument is then reassembled, lubricated, tuning slide legs are adjusted for smooth action, strung, and play tested. Springs are inspected and replaced if necessary. Regular chemical cleanings greatly retards the process of de-zincification ("red rot" or pink spots) and can double the life of the instrument. (Note to owners of Engelbert Schmid horns: We have many years of experience cleaning instruments and have done tests on our processes to make sure they are safe for instruments, players, and repair technicians. We don't use any chemicals that attack the metal of your instrument. Mr. Schmid has very specific ideas about how his horns should be maintained. If you wish, we are happy to maintain your instrument using his procedures and recommendations.)
Complete Valve Service (CVS): A complete mechanical tune-up for your horn. If your valves "klick-klack", this is a service that will help. We chemically clean the instrument, adjust the bearings for fast, silent action, machine out any end or side-to-side valve play, replace the rotor stops, springs (if needed), and restring. Slides are adjusted for tightness and optimal action.
FAQ: Do you rebuild valves for other stores/repair shops? Yes we do. Contact us at sales@osmun.com for more info.
Drill Oil Ports: Drill oiling holes in the rotor bearing so that you can get oil into this vital area. Most sticking valves are caused by a buildup of corrosion in the top bearing caused by inadequate lubrication.
Convert to Screw Bell: We will detach the fixed bell of your horn, remove any major dents, and install your choice of an Alexander, Engelbert Schmid, or Finke bell ring. We recommend Schmid or Finke rings since both makers have after-market bells readily available. Both Finke and Schmid bells have the same dimension at the ring so their medium, large, and extra large flares will fit with no step at the ring. We may charge extra when installing Alexander rings on large bell horns due to the extra machining involved. On lacquered horns we will re-lacquer the bell and bell tail.
Install Buna Valve Stops: We install our special synthetic rubber bumpers in your choice of hardness and align and restring your valves. Our bumpers are impervious to oil and will not split or deteriorate with use. They won't need any further attention for four or five years.
Installing Horn Mouthpipes & Bells: We can fit and install bells and mouthpipes on most french horns. We can supply requested parts for you, or install parts supplied by you.
Other Services: Install water keys (standard lever or Amado), Install hand rests, Machine down stop arms, dent removal.

Trombone Services
Trombone Slide Clean & Align: A complete tune up for your slide. We chemically clean both inner and outer slides, remove any minor dents in slide tubes, straighten, and align. We also replace the end bumper, water key cork, and spring (if needed). Your slide will be quick, responsive, and even.
Trombone Valve Cleaning: We will chemically clean any bell section with a traditional or upgraded valve. We remove old oil and grease as well as calcium carbonate and copper carbonate deposits using a combination of chemical and/or ultrasonic processes. Your bell section is then reassembled, lubricated, tuning slide legs are adjusted for smooth action, strung (if string action), and play tested. Springs are inspected and replaced if necessary. Regular chemical cleanings greatly retards the process of de-zincification ("red rot" or pink spots) and can double the life of the instrument.
Complete Valve Service (CVS): A complete mechanical tune-up for your trombone rotor valve. If your valve(s) "klick-klack", this is a service that will help. We chemically clean the instrument, adjust the bearings for fast, silent action, machine out any end or side-to-side valve play, replace the rotor stops, springs (if needed), and restring (if string action).
Open Rotor Ports: The ports in the rotors of many trombones are undersized. This causes a restriction in the air flow that can cause the F attachment to feel stuffy and unresponsive. Opening up the ports in the rotor to full size can make a dramatic improvement in the playing qualities of your horn.
Convert Valve From String To Mechanical Links: Modern Mini-Bal links are silent, fast, require no adjustment and almost no maintenance. Older mechanical linkage trombones as well as newer instruments with inferior linkage parts can benefit from our German-made precision linkages.
Other Services: Install aftermarket valves, dent removal.
